 a) What qualities of your magazine cover make it effective? (eg. What makes it eye catching?, What about it promotes curiosity?, How is it visually pleasing?, What makes it easy to understand?)

The qualities of my magazine that make it effective are the glow on “Halo 3″ because the glow is slowly maching the the background and the shine of Halo looks cool and eye catching.   The sponsors at the bottom of the magazine promotes its curiosity. It’s easy to understand because there is not alot of informationon it and the subtitles are short.

b) What was the order of hierarchy you were trying to achieve for the elements on your magazine cover?

I wanted to bring HALO 3 more stand out with glow which matched with the background because it is the main story. And I kind of stand out the “Win XBOX” because everybody wants to win, so when they are going to see “Win XBOX” then they’ll but the magazine.

Class Task #4: Understanding Resolution

16 01 2008

1) Will a 300 dpi image or a 72 dpi image be clearer when printed out at the same size? How come?

I Think that 300 dpi image will be more clearer than 72 dpi image because 300 dpi image will have more pixels than 72 dpi image. The more pixels per inch there are, the clearer and more detailed a picture can be.

2) What would a picture created at 1 dpi look like?

The picture created with 1 dpi couldn’t be seen because the picture will be very blurry and there wouldn’t be much detailed.

Fruit Bowl using Magic Wand and Lasso Tool

Questions and Answers:

 1. What combination of tools did you use to isolate the fruit in “fruit_combo.jpg” and where in the image did you use which tool?

I used a combination of the magic wand tool and the magnetic lasso tool, and the eraser.  I use magnetic lasso tool to cut out the upper part of the picture and I use magic wand to cut the down part and I use eraser to take out the small pieces that were left over.

2. Of the methods you used to isolate the fruit in the 3 pictures. Which method did you find most effective in this case?

The magic wand and eraser tool was most productive because it take the similar colour that we select which made the work much easier.

3. Experiment with the following:
After you make a selection in the menu and go to
     a) Select > Modify > Expand
     b) Select > Modify > Contract
     c) Select > Feather
What do these do? Post a fourth image indicating that you know what feathering does.

Expand makes the selection larger and contract makes the selection smaller. Feathering make the edges of selection faded. Feathering can round of the edges of the selection and makes the image look soft.
